Hi, Miss know it all! (and friends)

I just want to ask before I get started that you please comment any sort of advice in the comments when you read this because I need the advice ASAP.

So, There is this new guy at my church who is kinda cute, and really nice and funny. So I guess I like him but the thing is: MY FRIENDS BOTH HATE HIM! So I am not sure what they would say if I ever told them anything about me liking him. I am starting to think that he likes me at least as a friend but if he likes me, then what should I do? Should I tell him I like him and date him? or should I tell him I liked him but don't think that I should date him or anything? IDK either way it's very complicated and my other friends say he is nice but my church friends think he is weird and ugly and just gross. So please help me!
